Sit on the edge of the bed, or on a chair, or on the floor if the floor is bearable. Plant your feet. If the floor is too cold, put a sock on one foot and not the other, on purpose.

Let your spine lengthen without lifting your chin. The top of your head is the thing that rises. Your jaw stays where it was.

Rest your hands on your thighs, palms down. Notice the weight of your arms. Notice that your arms are warmer than the floor.
